Leona Lewis snapped in the studio with Ryan Tedder & Jordin Sparks…

Leona Lewis is pictured yesterday in a Denver recording studio with producer Ryan Tedder. Apparently, they created a “very uptempo” cut, according to Ali Pierre (before he quickly deleted the tweet). He also says her new songs are “amazing”. Jordin Sparks is also pictured because she too was also recording with Tedder in that same studio. Both Leona and Jordin were tweeting to each other yesterday about their time together. Pierre went on to confirm that he is the one writing for Jordin’s next single. You never know, we might even get a Leona and Jordin collaboration! By the way, those clothes must be her favourite ‘studio’ clothes.
The 25-year-old X-Factor alum has also confessed to Access Hollywood recently that the first single off her new album will be released “early” this year, and that we can expect a more experiemental sound compared to her previous efforts. Click here to see a list of confirmed producers Leona has worked with for the upcoming project. Are you looking forward to Leona’s new album?
Leona Lewis snapped in the studio with Toby Gad…

Producer Bryan-Michael Cox has confirmed on twitter that he was in the studio this week working with Leona Lewis. His confirmation comes after the singer announced her meeting with Tony Gad. We also reported this week that Bryan Kennedy is confirmed for the project, and she has been in the studio with Kevin Rudolf.
“Recording with Toby today, I lurv this song guys! I’m excited” she tweeted yesterday. She then tweeted this photo of herself earlier today with Toby Gad after they wrapped up their studio session. Previously announced producers for Leona’s third studio album include Dallas Austin, Jeff Bhasker, Ryan Tedder, Harvey Mason Jr, Chuck Harmony, Ne-yo and David Guetta, to name the few.
Leona Lewis enlists synthpop duo Hurts for new album…

Theo Hutchraft, the frontman of synthpop band Hurts has confirmed that in the New Year, that he will meet up with UK sensation Leona Lewis to discuss a collaboration. Leona must really like their stuff because they are unknown newcomers and only released their debut album in September.
I totally admire her for working with underground producers because a fresh new sound for 2011 is exactly what she is badly in need of right now. ‘Echo’ was NOT a great album so that may have factored in the album not doing so well in the US. I’m kind of miffed Ryan Tedder is working on the project again but as long as she has her UK fanbase, she’ll be fine.
Leona Lewis on new LP: “there’s so much to sing about!”…
Posted by | Filed under Leona Lewis, Leona's New Album

Leona Lewis has tweeted about her upcoming new album today. She says that “so much has happened this passed year” that she has “so much to sing and write about”. The 25-year-old certainly didn’t have it easy since the release of her last album. She was PUNCHED in the head by a crazed fan. She was headbutted by her horse, and then encountered yet ANOTHER horse injury, she broke up with the love of her life, and the list is endless. According to previous reports, the singer is hoping to release the lead single in the first quarter of 2011, with her third studio album expected to follow in the Spring to coincide with the launch of the US X Factor. Is Leona about to open up and give us a deeply expressive new album?
Leona Lewis snags David Guetta for new album…

Leona Lewis has confirmed on Ustream this week that she has recorded a track with popular French DJing producer David Guetta for her forthcoming album. According to the 25-year-old, the project is still in the “very early stages” where she is also currently experimenting with “different sounds”. The upcoming opus is due out next summer.
I’ve never been a fan of Guetta’s work because his dance-pop productions are one in the same. After hearing what he’s done for the likes of Rihanna, Kelly Rowland, Kelis, and several others, it’s getting to a point where, if you’ve heard one Guetta song you’ve pretty much heard them all. But if he can incorporate more colour, personality and life into Leona’s music, I’m not going to complain about it. Maybe this is exactly what she needs to break out of the ‘boring’ stigma she’s known for.
Leona Lewis confirms new single for early 2011, new LP to explore ‘tougher’ sound…
Posted by | Filed under Leona Lewis, Leona's New Album, Magazines
UK sensation Leona Lewis has announced to the X Factor‘s official magazine ‘X’ that the lead single from her third studio album will be released “early” next year. She also says she intends to explore a “tougher” sound for the upcoming project…
“I think I probably will experiment with a tougher sound on some of the songs,” she said. “But I don’t like going into the studio saying, ‘I’m going to do this or that’ specifically. I prefer just to get in there and go with it from there. What I was working on with Ryan [Tedder] was quite up-tempo but still very song-based. I’m working on the new album for next year so the new single will come early 2011 too” (source).
The front cover of the magazine reads: “I’ve gone through so much this year”. After a gruelling tour, a painful split and being savagely punched in the head by a crazed fan, it’s pretty much safe to say this year has not been kind to Leona. However, she’s moving forward and seems excited about releasing the new LP. After going through so much, maybe such traumas has in deed tougned her up musically. I hope she opens up more on this new album as it will give the project a more interesting dimension. She is also releasing her tour DVD ‘The Labyrinth Tour’ on November 29th, alongside a 10-track disc.
The former X Factor champ was scheduled to perform at the 50th anniversary of Nigeria’s independence this week. Unfortunately, the country found itself hit by violent bomb attacks, which has claimed nearly a dozen deaths. As a result, the 25-year-old was forced to cancel the performance and is now safe and sound in LA.
New Leona Lewis track gets named, Black Eyed Peas preview new song…

UK based vocalist/artist Sonny J Mason has confirmed he’s worked on a brand new track for the new Leona Lewis album. The track was helmed with keyboard composer Kevin Randolph. Read on for details…
“Just finished new track for Leona Lewis ‘Work For My Love’, with Kevin Randolph. Watch out!” says Mason (Source).
.
Kevin Randolph has songwriting credits on Chrisette Michele‘s debut album courtesy of a track titled ‘If I Have My Way‘. Randolph has also performed on the Dreamgirls soundtrack after working with the likes of Beyonce and Jennifer Hudson. Therefore, he is used to working with all the big voiced divas. As Leona is still in the early process of recording her new album, it’s not yet known whether the song will make the final cut.

Leona Lewis hits the studio with Harvey Mason…

Our documentation of the recording process for Leona Lewis‘s new album continues. She has just hit the studio yesterday with Harvey Mason, Jr of The Underdogs.

“In the studio with Leona Lewis and Harvey Mason this evening working on somethin’ kinda special. Look out!” says Larry Jackson, the vice president of J Records (Source). Mason delivers a ditto to that very statement: “In the studio with my 2nd UK born singer today. Dang they are nice people….and great singers” (Source).
Mason’s most noteworthy work includes tracks he’s helmed for Leona previously, Britney Spears, Jordin Sparks, Chris Brown, Jennifer Hudson and Justin Timberlake just to name the biggest stars on his roster. We hope they are cooking up something really hot for Leona’s new album!
Leona Lewis confirms studio sessions with Ryan Tedder…
Posted by | Filed under Leona Lewis, Leona's New Album
As reported earlier, Leona Lewis went into the recording studio this week to start work on her new album. Yesterday, she confirmed she has turned to Ryan Tedder again to produce on the record…
“Went to Frankfurt to record with Ryan Tedder!” she tweeted “Was so fun, really excited!” Source.
.
I was actually hoping she would stay away from the sickeningly repetitive Tedder for this new album. I would love to hear some diversity on this new project. Tedder is one of the people you don’t go to for variation. Hopefully, his number of songs are limited to no more than one or two and that she does not depend on him again for a hit single.
Leona Lewis starts recording new LP this week…

Remember how we kept on reporting that Leona Lewis had started work on her new album only for those recording sessions to be for an ‘Echo’ re-release?
Apparently, the 25-year-old will start recording her brand new studio album THIS WEEK, as confirmed by Larry Jackson over the weekend. And yes, this is for the REAL studio album this time. Word has it, Simon Cowell has set a summer 2011 deadline for the project to be finalised because he wants the new album to tie in with the opening US X Factor series. Sounds like a plan he would come up with. He is her manager and one thing you can’t say is that he never puts any devotion into her career.
First photo of Leona Lewis & producer Dallas Austin…

We first reported that Leona Lewis and Dallas Austin were in the recording studio working on her third studio album and here’s the first photo of their hook-up!
I hope he gives Leona some of his best work, as I have to admit he’s a talented producer. I however could not get into ‘Echo’, so I’m not all that surprised it didn’t do well in the US. But I’m actually really looking forwards to a new Leona album and staying clear from Ryan Tedder would be a good start.
What direction would you like to see Leona take with her new album?
Report: Leona Lewis records New Album with Dallas Austin…

As reported previously, both Ne-yo and JR Rotem confirmed their contributions towards the third studio album which Leona Lewis has started working on. And yesterday, she was in the recording studio with none other than American producer Dallas Austin! Here’s what he had to say about their studio sessions: “In the studio killin it with Leona. Songs are amazing and she made ‘em better”. Source. Source.
After letting her hair down and clubbing it up with ex-Sugababe Keisha Buchanan last week, the 25-year-old is hard at work on her new LP. In more interesting news, she has cause to celebrate because yesterday, her debut album ‘Spirit’ consistently ranked in the charts and has now exceeded three million copies sold in the UK! Massive congrats. And finally, she is scheduled to perform at the Singapore Youth Olympic Games Celebration concert in August.
Report: New Leona Lewis Album will be “Different & Fun”, new snippet leaks…
Posted by | Filed under Leona Lewis, Leona's New Album, New Music, Sneak Peaks
A snippet to a new Leona Lewis song has surfaced online. The track, titled ‘A Thousand Lights’ sounds very Coldplay-ish, but the piano intro is hauntingly beautiful. I am simply aching to hear the track in full as it sounds very promising. You can take a listen to it by checking out the stream below.
Meanwhile, in a recent new interview with WalesOnline, the singer spoke a bit about her upcoming third studio album and how she’d like it to sound like something she’s never done before:
“I think that’s going to be a bit different from what people have heard from me before” she reveals “I think that with going in different directions musically with the show, it’s given people a different vibe from what they had before, so it’s going to be different and fun. I’m just going to go in and create and just see what happens”.
The 25-year-old has already started recording the project with JR. Rotem and Ne-yo. It has since been reported that Leona is also scheduled to hit the booth with popular Dance producer David Guetta.
Leona Lewis ropes in Ne-yo & J.R. Rotem for New Album; Recording process has begun…
Posted by | Filed under Leona Lewis, Leona's New Album
After splitting up with childhood sweetheart Lou Al-Chamaa, UK sensation Leona Lewis has been throwing herself into her work. Not only has she been performing her butt off during her ‘Labyrinth’ UK tour, but she’s also started recording her third studio album as early as last week. Producer J.R. Rotem confirmed their studio sessions via his twitter.
Also, Larry Jackson, the VP of J Records tweeted the following over the weekend: “On the redeye to Ireland. Headed over to see Leona Lewis’ second sold-out night at O2 Arena. Ready to start the new CD! Great songs on deck”. Producer Darkchild, who is currently working on tracks for the new Britney album, has also expressed an interest in working with her. And according to some of her fansites, Ne-yo has also been working on the project.
Reliable word has it that Leona will drop the new album in the last quarter of 2010. Her people are eyeing a November release and they are plotting for a more sexier and fun, energetic uptempo vibe. Maybe a split will do Leona some good for this album because she’s only been with one man her entire life. It just may encourage her to open up a bit, show a little aggression musically, and just experiment with her life and music. Sometimes, it’s just good to let your hair down and have fun before deciding to commit the rest of your life to that one person. Then, when the time is right, they can get back together again, which we know they will. It might just do them some good, and I honestly believe that. Anyway, here’s a new article about the situation and why she dumped him.
As for Rotem, I’m not a fan of his work. I liked what he did for JLS with ‘Everybody In Love’ but his production has never really clicked with me. Still, it’s good that she’s working with new people for the new album. She just needs to stay away from Ryan Tedder because we know the deal with ‘Happy’ and why it seriously tanked in the US. Let’s just say, lack of promotion was not just it.
Update: It totally went over my head that Leona worked with Rotem on ‘Better In Time’.
Leona Lewis wants new album to be “edgier” like Rihanna & Lady Gaga…
Posted by | Filed under Leona Lewis, Leona's New Album
Due to Leona Lewis not hitting it big with latest album ‘Echo’, the 25-year-old is supposedly ditching the repetitive ballads for a more edgier sound which would rival pop sensations Rihanna & Lady Gaga. Apparently, a source told Now Magazine: “Leona’s ready to evolve her look and music. She wants her next album to be totally unexpected and different, like Rihanna’s and Gaga’s. They’re around her age and make the kind of exciting impact she wants to make. Leona’s latest album hasn’t done as well as she hoped and feels she has to step it all up”. Source.
This latest revelation suggests that our Leona is planning to experiment with more upbeat-driven, electronic sounds and futuristic, aggressive synths. I take it this direction will be along the veins of Gaga and her vocal competitor Christina Aguilera. I have noticed over the last few months that Leona’s style has changed drastically. She has adopted avante garde looks, as well as the big shoulder pads on several occasions.
.
It appears she totally means business with the radical make-over. However, when pulling off ‘edgy’, you need attitude and swagger which is totally what Rihanna and Gaga oozes. As to whether Leona can pull it off, we’ll just have to wait and see. The singer is expected to dive head on into the production of her third studio album after her tour.
Leona Lewis ready to start work on third studio album…
Posted by | Filed under Leona Lewis, Leona's New Album
Brookland Entertainment president Eric Nicks has confirmed via his Twitter that producer/songwriter August Rigo is about to hit the studio with Leona Lewis to start work on her third studio album. The sessions are likely to take place once Leona’s 6-week UK Arena tour comes to an end this summer.
.
I know you must be thinking who the hell is this kid? Me too. I’m not familiar with his work either but after doing a bit of background digging, his speciality is mainly Pop, R&B and Soul. His production company churned out tunes for the likes of Nappy Roots, Young Steff and Jhevon Paris. Again, who the hell are these people? Do they actually have an international pop star on their roster?
.
Hmmm. Looks like Leona is a first. As the saying goes, first time for everything right? Surprisingly, Leona is already thinking about moving onto her third project despite only releasing two singles from the project. Is she finally putting the plug on her luke-warm selling album ‘Echo’ for good or will she squeeze out one more single? Only time will tell.
