Watch: Lady Gaga performs at inauguration White House Staff Ball…

Lady Gaga‘s new album ‘ARTPOP’ may not be in grasping reach as of yet, but at least her relevance is still very much in tact! Last night, the singer performed at the White House Staff Ball to commemorate President Barack Obama‘s second inauguration.

For a second consecutive evening of festivies, Gaga sat at her piano, and she sang a reworked version of her hit song, ‘You And I’ as Obama’s staff watched on. She also performed her #1 chart topper ‘Born This Way’ and was joined on stage by jazz legend Tony Bennett. Peep some of the action below!

Lady Gaga tries to gag courtroom debate about stolen ‘Judas’ sample…

According to reports, Lady Gaga‘s attorneys are trying to silence a courtroom discussion about whether she and Jennifer Lopez stole the same unlicensed music sample for music they dropped in 2011. Chicago musician Rebecca Francescatti filed a lawsuit two years ago accusing Gaga of plagiarising parts of her 1999 song ‘Juda’ for ‘Judas’.

The lawsuit reportedly exposes text messages between Lady Gaga and producer RedOne showing Gaga had stolen another sample loop used in ‘Judas’, which was then used for J.Lo’s track ‘Invading My Mind’. Francescatti’s attorneys argue that those texts and depositions also show Gaga was very much aware she had plagiarised the sample. Then to cover her tracks, she got J.Lo to give her a producing credit, despite Gaga admitting to not doing any work on the track. This is not a good look for Gaga. Really, does it hurt THAT much to give another artist their just dues? Of course she can come out and say “I was inspired” (hi Beyonce), but that would be way too easy.

Lady Gaga & Terry Richardson to release ‘ARTPOP’ documentary…

A documentary ahead of a new album release appears to be the new marketing tool these days. Beyonce isn’t the only superstar getting one next year. Lady Gaga is also getting one too, and has teamed up with Terry Richardson to distribute it. Mother monster’s documentary will track the singer’s hectic lifestyle, as well as the development and creation of her forthcoming new album ‘ARTPOP’. Seems Bey is not the only one determined to ensure her new album is a real success!

Does this documentary excite you?

Watch: Lady Gaga rocks the stage with The Rolling Stones in Newark!

Gaga moves like Jagger! The singer rocked the stage with The Rolling Stones at the legendary band’s final ‘50 & Counting’ pay-per-view concert last night.

They performed the band’s classic ‘Gimme Shelter’ at the Prudential Center in Newark on Saturday, December 15th. Gaga was an absolute pro in those killer heels. Gotdamn!

She was so energetic and agile alongside her much older counterpart, who I must admit, held his own just as well. Check out their rocking set below!

The performance? Hardcore rock ‘n’ roll at its finest! She was clearly evoking Jagger’s stage presence with the moves. Despite jumping around in deadly heels, her vocals remained unaffected and powerful. Their stage chemistry also kicked ass too! We can’t wait to see what she has in store for the new era of ‘ARTPOP’ next year!

RedOne discusses “making history” with Lady Gaga’s new album ‘ARTPOP’…

And it begins. The over excessive hype. Lady Gaga‘s longterm producer RedOne tells MTV News that for her new album ‘ARTPOP’, they are going to cook up something like fans have never heard before. Some of their past works, which rocketed Gaga into global super-stardom, include, ‘Just Dance’, ‘Poker Face’ and ‘Bad Romance’. I find it extremely difficult to believe he can actually top those, but check out what he had to say about her new album, below.

“I don’t want to say so much, because I don’t know what’s going to happen. To be honest with you, I don’t know what’s going to happen with the songs. My intent is the same thing: make history. If we don’t feel like this is part of history again, we’re not going to do it, but we’re enjoying [the process]. We love doing music, so it will be interesting to see what’s going to happen.”

He adds: “I don’t want to promise anything… but, of course, that’s always the intent. To be honest with you, it’s all about good songs. You can go crazy as you want sonically, which is always what I try to do… but it’s always about good songs. Number one is to make a dance song that is like ‘Oh my God!’” Source.

Okay. Didn’t we hear these exact words with the grotesquely underwhelming ‘Born This Way’? I guess that serves as our confirmation that he WON’T be making history at all, on anyone’s account. Talking the talk always yields different results in the end. On the other hand, I’m totally looking forwards to hearing her collaborations with Azealia Banks.

Lady Gaga discusses racy new song on ‘ARTPOP’…

Lady Gaga‘s new album ‘ARTPOP’ is sounding like quite the forthcoming experience. This week, she announced that she is negotiating on whether the album will feature two volumes. The first one, consisting of all the commercial material, while the second one will explore her more experimental side. In an interview with UK’s Style magazine, Gaga shed light on one of those tracks. One of them being a sizzling anthem called ‘G.U.Y.’, which is an acronym for ‘Girl Under You’. Gaga implies that ‘G.U.Y.’ is inspired by her own feel-good expressions on feminism.

“Any kind of feminist has valid views for herself about what it means to be a feminist, but, as a new-age feminist, I would say I quite like the transference of strength I feel by submitting to a man – being under him. I actually wrote a song about it on my album, it’s called ‘G.U.Y.’ and it stands for ‘Girl Under You’. So wearing make-up, smelling delicious and having suckable, kissable, edible things between your limbs is something I find strengthening because I know that when I pick the right guy, I can let him have it.” Source, source.

Talk about a profound statement! This could be to Gaga what ‘Cake’ was to Rihanna. How about it? Gaga’s APP-facilitated new album will drop in stores next year. Confirmed producers for ‘ARTPOP’ include RedOne, DJ White Shadow, and Fernando Garibay.

Lady Gaga teases ‘Telephone’ sequel on new album ‘ARTPOP’…

Lady Gaga teases the continuation of her Beyonce-assisted single ‘Telephone’, slated to feature on her new album, ‘ARTPOP.’ Beyonce and Lady Gaga fans reunite in their excitement, just by her one-worded tweet to a fan. A tweet, that doesn’t really imply much. Should we be excited?

It has not been confirmed whether Beyonce will collaborate with the eccentric pop chanteuse for a third time. But according to her little monsters, this might very well be the music video for a future single titled ‘Ratchet’, which reportedly features Azealia Banks (Gaga confirmed the track’s existence in a chat on LittleMonsters.com).

With details being so sketchy, perhaps fans should not get their hopes up too soon. Gaga once voiced her dislike for the ‘Telephone’ video, so this is kind of random, but at least she gets to rectify all the things she didn’t approve of previously.

Ne-Yo on Lady Gaga: “Where is she right now? Lady Gaga is not an icon…”

Please excuse Toya and I as we hit the deck to avoid any stray bullets from the shots Ne-Yo fired towards Lady Gaga.

Ne-Yo, now the new Senior Vice President of A&R for Motown Records, put his pedicured foot in his mouth when asked by the Daily Star, “Who was the last real icon to come out of the music industry?” Pop the lid below to see what R&B’s favorite gentlemen had to say about Gaga after the jump.

“Everybody thought it was going to be Lady GaGa, but where is she right now, what’s going on with her? Not to take anything away from her because she’s ridiculously talented, but artists who stand the test of time – you just don’t see those any more.”

Wow, there are no words to defend the level of arrogance peppered throughout Ne-Yo’s statements. For starters, not only is Gaga a global pop star with universal appeal, but she’s one of the top 5 most relevant female pop stars out right now behind Rihanna, Katy Perry, Ke$ha, and Nicki Minaj.

Secondly, to answer Ne-Yo’s question as to where Lady Gaga has been, she’s been on her critically acclaimed ‘Born This Way Ball’ tour for the past five months selling out arenas in six out of seven continents around the world. Boom!

People tend to throw around words like “legendary” and “iconic” to any pop star with a few #1 hits under their belt, but to be truly considered the greatest requires much more than a catchy dance break and a flock of rabid stans fans on Twitter ready to drag at the drop of a hat. Quite honestly, there are only two female to debut around the turn of the millennium that can be considered iconic today—they are Britney Spears and Beyonce.

Sure, Lady Gaga has her work cut out for her if she wants to be remembered as a legend or icon in the similar fashion her idol Madonna is revered, but for Ne-Yo to completely dismiss her artistry and pop relevance as merely a fad is utterly disrespectful. After word of Mr. Shaffer’s statements get back to the ‘Just Dance’ songwriter I wouldn’t expect a collaboration from these two divas anytime soon…

Watch: Lady Gaga vomits live on stage in Barcelona…

Did Lady Gaga seriously puke onstage just to jump on this trend that Justin Bieber started? Not to mention she was lip syncing as well. Gaga, currently touring at her ‘Born This Way Ball’, vomited her guts up in Barcelona over the weekend, and the incident was captured on camera.

In the clip, Gaga is seen walking down some stairs and momentarily pauses. She then bends over the barrier and vomits during the track ‘The Edge Of Glory’. Interestingly, you can also hear the vocal track playing in the background. Poking fun at herself, she tweeted: “Was praying nobody saw but actually it’s quite a good laugh if you need one!”

Gaga doesn’t miss a beat. She’s still doing her little dance routine as if the puke isn’t even happening. Some would say she’s being professional but it’s actually gross, and pretty embarrassing to watch. It’s just shocking she would continue the performance when the sensible thing would have been to run to the bathroom. In her world, I guess they would call that rock ‘n’ roll.

Listen & Review: Lady Gaga – ‘Stache (Can You Feed My Love)’

Following the commencement of Lady Gaga‘s ‘Born This Way Ball’ there’s been a drought of new music from the dark pop star. Looks like Mother Monster has answered the cries of her fans by releasing a brand new track titled ‘Stache (Can You Feed My Love)’.

Listen to what Gaga has in-store after the jump and sound off below!

PROS:

  • a clear, discernible melody
  • production is reminiscent of ‘The Fame Monster’
  • super bright hook
  • melodic, strong and feminine vocals
  • absolutely NO mention of Christ, Mary, Judas, or anyone else from the Old Testament

CONS:

  • sounds a bit dated compared to the current trends of pop radio
  • exhaustively repetitive
  • sounds unfinished (perhaps it’s a demo?)

‘Stache’ is quite the catch-22 for Lady Gaga—for while the song is leaps and bounds better than most of the pretentious work released from ‘Born This Way’, it’s still not on par with her earlier singles like ‘Just Dance’, ‘LoveGame’ and ‘Bad Romance’. On a positive note, the track is definitely a step in the right direction!

Music fans want Lady Gaga to make them dance and party again, not contemplate the existence of Jesus by singing preachy religious songs disguised as sledgehammer-pop.

Upon writing this post it has been confirmed that ‘Stache’ will not appear on ‘ARTPOP’, however, we hope Gaga uses the song as inspiration for her new modified sound.

Lady Gaga announces ‘multimedia’ release for new album ‘ARTPOP’…

Lady Gaga announces that she will be providing the ultimate multimedia experience when she releases her upcoming new album ‘ARTPOP’ early next year. The project will be released in different formats outside of the standard physical and digital. Fans will now be able to purchase ‘ARTPOP’ through the APP resulting in the project being released through other forms of electronic applications.

ARTPOP is not just an ALBUM it’s a PROJECT. I’m excited to tell you all that ARTPOP is going to be a multimedia experience that comes in different forms. The most major way to fully immerse yourself in ARTPOP is through the APP. ARTPOP will be released as an IPAD, iPhone, mobile and computer compatible application (WORLD) that is completely interactive with chats, films for every song, extra music, content, gaga inspired games, fashion updates, magazines, and more still in the works! I will also be able to upload new things to the APP all the time, the same way I upload to twitter and LM.com”, she says before urging fans to start asking for iPADS for Christmas.

Too bad she’s not giving away those very iPads for free, as implied by her twitter hacker recently. The way in which music is distributed continues to change thanks to the ever growing face of technology. This however, is a smart marketing venture and one that could very well be endorsed by many more artists in the foreseeable future.

Lady Gaga debuts epic ‘Fame’ fragrance trailer, & SLAMS ex-employees…

From the Haus laboratories, Lady Gaga releases an epic new trailer for her fragrance campaign ‘FAME’, shot and directed by Steven Klein. The trailer is so f***ing dark, sexy, weird and frightening, but obviously amazing. “I’m so happy you like it” says Gaga, “That shiz was expensive”. Clearly. Click image below to watch it.

‘Fame’ makes its store debut on August 22nd at MACY’s. Gaga also wrote “a letter to her sweet fans” on LittleMonsters.com and while doing so, effortlessly drags Joseph Khan and Laurieann Gibson in the process. She also acknowledges the slaying of previous single ‘Born This Way’ and more. Read it below!

“Today is a really happy day for me. The past year was a challenge, and I’m so happy to have my spirit back. I felt in chains at times. Whether it be the record label disagreeing with me on single choices, or directors who could only create an idea of “gaga” or what I’ve “done before” and not able to move forward, and there was also of course the incessant dragging of the most important single of my career in dead-beaten-horse-mud. Then there were all the personal moments. Betrayed by lifelong friends, mentors I’ve had for years suddenly taking advantage of me, and a massive struggles with my body image.

I’ve grown and left most of these things behind, the monsters of fame are very real. But I wanted to thank you for baring with me a little bit. Today’s film is what happens when there is love and respect amongst creatives, teams, management. This project was run solely by the HAUS OF GAGA, ATOM FACTORY, AND STEVEN KLEIN’S fantastic team. I am feeling blessed to have removed those from my life driven by money and luxury, its all about the art of it. I feel free today. Thank you for always being there for me monsters. I love you”.

Snapshots: Lady Gaga covers September 2012 issue of ‘VOGUE’…

Lady Gaga looks very classy and elegant on the September 2012 cover of VOGUE magazine. The cover was shot by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott, and serves as the largest issue of the magazine in history.

The fashion glossy comes with a record-breaking 916 pages, and will hit the shops in time for Gaga to promote her new ‘FAME’ perfume. Gaga discusses breaking the mold of modern touring, how THAT infamous meat dress came about, and what’s in store for her musical ventures. You can read the full story, and see more shots by Mert Alas and Marcus Piggott when the issue hits newsstands on August 14th.

Check out some excerpts and behind the scenes footage here.

Lady Gaga OFFICIALLY announces new album title ‘ARTPOP’…

So it’s official now. Lady Gaga decided not to wait until September and took to twitter to announce that her upcoming new album will be titled ‘ARTPOP’. She said: “Make sure when writing about my new album/project ARTPOP that you capitalize the title, its all in the details”. I still feel that artpop lies more in the style of music she’s going for, but the name is unique, even for Gaga.

Gaga told fans on LittleMonsters.com that, “ARTPOP is an obsession” and that she “will explain more in September”. So next month, she will give us elaborate details. Some of her fans are mad at the title, expression or whatever it is. But it’s not really a big deal. It’s whether ‘ARTPOP’ will churn out some of Gaga’s best work. Raise your hand with me if you’d like Gaga to revisit the hotness that was ‘The Fame’. ‘ARTPOP’ is slated to be released in early 2013.

Snapshot: Lady Gaga associates new album to “artpop”…

Lady Gaga shares this photo of her new tattoo on social network, LittleMonsters.com several hours ago. The photo came with an interesting caption that read “New ink new album”. The new tattoo also reads ‘ARTPOP’. Gaga later posted a picture that read: “We could, we could, belong together, ARTPOP”.  Gaga’s music producer DJ White Shadow, which Gaga refers to as her brother, posted a photo on his Twitter with the tattoo ‘ARTPOP’ on his hands.

During a chat last night on LittleMonsters.com, Gaga says of the expression ‘ARTPOP’:

“Pop art was a movement in the 70s that is still alive today”
“ARTPOP is the music I’ve been making since ‘The Fame’”
“The irony of ARTPOP and pop art being similar is on purpose”
“ARTPOP could mean anything”

Regardless of what’s being reported, Gaga has NOT (yet) announced that ‘Artpop’ is the title of her new single or album (due next year). That official announcement won’t come until September. ‘Artpop’ could very well be an artistic expression centered around the upcoming project. Album title or not, Gaga sure knows how to keep the momentum buzzing. Stay tuned for more on that because I have a feeling further hints will be thrown our way throughout the week.

Lady Gaga enlists White Snake guitarist for new album…

Whitesnake guitarist Doug Aldrich has confirmed he’s recorded guitars for one of the new tracks that will appear on Lady Gaga‘s new album. Perhaps Doug was leaking information he was not suppose to. Because shortly after he posted, he promptly deleted his tweets. More deets below.

While on the road playing sold-out dates on her ‘Born This Way Ball’, Gaga has been recording her new album. The weeks are going by quickly and fans will be served up with quite the treat when Gaga announces her new album title in September. With Doug Aldrich being on board for the project, it seems Gaga is going after those rock influences, as well as the electronic, dance beats she’s been dominating charts with lately.

Madonna: “I’m glad I helped Gaga write ‘Born This Way’!”

Madonna is now claiming songwriting credits for Lady Gaga‘s ‘Born This Way’, the very song she previously deemed “reductive”. Madge’s admission came during a recent Brazilian interview where she spoke about her ‘M.D.N.A.’ tour among other things. Madonna is heard saying: “I’m a really big fan of ‘Born This Way’, and I’m glad that I helped Gaga write it”. The saga continues.

Madonna needs to let go of this Born This Way/Express Yourself plagiarism argument. It’s tired. Plus, it’s been an overstated fact that the tracks are uncannily similar. No need to keep singing the same tune in every interview. What she needs to do now is slap herself for making ‘Give Me All Your Luvin’ as a single and then start brainstorming music that will prove worthy of her legacy.

Watch: Lady Gaga debuts new song ‘Princess Die’ in Melbourne…

Lady Gaga debuted a brand new song titled ‘Princess Die’ for the first time today at the ‘Born This Way Ball’ in Melbourne, Australia. Gaga confirms that the track may or may not appear on her new album, and that it is no way reflected to any other music on the next LP. The pop vixen played the dark, suicidal, ballad on her piano and some of Gaga’s monsters are claiming it has a two edged meaning, one of them possibly being a subliminal reference to Princess Diana.

The lyrics are really haunting but I thought dark and haunting music from Gaga was just a passing phase for her. Although she claims ‘Princess Die’ does not reflect the new album, it still leaves room for wonder. Take a listen to the track and sound off below.

Rolling Stone: 50 Greatest Female Albums…

I hate polls. I never take them seriously because they never represent my tastes. Sans Mary J. Blige‘s ‘My Life’ and Lauryn Hill‘s ‘The Miseducation’, none of my favourite albums from a female artist made this list. Where’s Mariah Carey? Yet Beyonce‘s ’4? and Lady Gaga‘s ‘Born This Way’ makes it and Mariah doesn’t? LMAO. The artists on here are really talented but the wrong albums in the wrong ranking have been selected rendering this list a damn travesty.

Watch: Did Lady Gaga finally respond to Madonna diss?

Whether Lady Gaga was being subliminal with her speech about Madonna (very classy), or merely just spreading a general, positive message to her fans, you can’t deny that her words of eloquence were very powerful. Gaga’s speech on equality in Auckland the other night has her fans believing that part of it was addressing Madonna’s supposed diss during her current ‘M.D.N.A’ tour. A diss, which saw Madonna using Gaga’s single ‘Born This Way’ and mashing it up with her song ‘Express Yourself’ and ‘She’s Not Me’. Apparently, Gaga has no love for anyone that “makes a mockery” of somebody else’s work. Get into her fighting words below.

“It sometimes makes people feel better about themselves to put other people down or make fun of them or maybe make a mockery of their work. But, that doesn’t make me feel good at all. That just make me feel like I’m not being a good human being. I feel that if you’re a really good human being, you can try and find something beautiful in every single person no matter what. And it’s a challenge, but at the end of the day I learned so much this year about that. I learned a lot about negativity. I learned a lot about people trying to tear you down. And I’m just not that person, and I never will be. And I don’t even wanna fight back. Because, it’s more important to me to keep writing music. Cause that’s all I really care about. My music.

I don’t have a fanbase that wants me to fight or bite or be shady. Or cunty. The way that we all used to be. We’re in a new place in society now, aren’t we? Things are really different now than they were 25 years ago and that’s what makes ‘Born This Way’ so relevant for me. We’re just socially in a completely different place now. And I want you to know it’s okay. You don’t have to hate and slice each other anymore”.
