Pop royalty Justin Timberlake has officially denied any chance that he may appear as a judge on the new season of American Idol. His Rep states that the speculation is “just silly” and that the 29-year-old’s blossoming movie career makes it impossible for him to become a permanent ‘Idol’ judge. Source.

Pop star Justin Timberlake (as well as Sir Elton John) have been added to the list of potential replacements for departed judge Simon Cowell. According to Billboard, Timberlake is reportedly on ‘Idol’ producer Simon Fuller’s wish list as part of his bid to save American Idol.

Interestingly enough, industry rumors have circulated for the past few weeks that Fuller and Fox are thinking about dumping the entire judges panel, although current judge Randy Jackson is likely to succeed the chop as he has one more year left on his contract. Nigel Lythgoe, who executive produces the show, has also cited R&B superstar Usher as one of his picks to take to the panel alongside former judge Paula Abdul. Source.

It looks like they are trying to give the show a total revamp hoping that millions will still continue to watch. But if you want my honest opinion, Idol was over the day Simon and Paula left. Their chemistry and public spats (rehearsed or not) is what kept viewers on tenterhooks. Simon WAS American Idol but they’re not getting the memo. I think the show has lost its spark and should have ended three seasons ago. Only time will tell if viewers will continue to support the show. Who would YOU like to see on the judging panel?

The music industry may have encountered a recession in more recent times but much of that financial loss looks set to be recouped from the porn industry. In one porn presentation, actors are seen lip-synching to Justin Timberlake’s ‘SexyBack’ whilst engaging in explicit sexual activities. Now Warner Bros. and and several other record labels have filed a lawsuit as early as last week alleging copyright infringement on the part of an adult entertainment company. Here’s a classic but hilarious example:

The record labels say there’s virtually no dialogue in these videos – who needs plot these days? – and instead, popular recordings from artists like Timberlake, Michael Jackson and Katy Perry provide the “soundtrack” accompaniment to the lustful on-screen action. Videos are allegedly named after songs, and actors are encouraged to lip-sync to the lyrics. (Imagine Perry’s ‘I Kissed A Girl’ or Michael Jackson’s ‘Don’t Stop (Til You Get Enough)’ as a lip-dubbed porn). Source.

Damages claimed on the disgusting use of copyrighted music could run into the tens of millions of dollars. As funny as this may be, it’s not exactly the type of Justin Timberlake music news we were all anticipating. However, I’m sure that in the next ten years when the acting gigs bore him or dry up, he’ll eventually find his appetite to head back into a recording studio.
