Britney Spears talks Madonna, Lady Gaga & ‘Femme Fatale’…

Pop titan Britney Spears sat down and did her Q & A on twitter today which saw the 29-year-old pop starlet answer the very questions her fans wanted to know. She was tweeting the replies from her Cali home in Calabassas. The singer was smart enough to answer the big questions pertaining to her new album ‘Femme Fatale’ such as promo, tour and the production process. She even laid the Grammy rumours to rest by bluntly stating that she would NOT be attending and had no plans to do so.

She reveals the album is “moody, edgy pop with A LOT of energy” making note that she co-wrote a couple of songs, and proudly declaring it as some of the best work she’s ever done. The project also has a few mid-tempo ballads and will be accompanied by a global tour. As for promotional activities, she says she’ll be doing a lot of promo, and that we should expect some major announcements in the next few days.

Once the important questions were out of the way, she answered some lighthearted ones which permitted her to express her love and admiration for Lady Gaga and Madonna, her fetish for Strawberry Frapuchinos and her desire to act again.

Britney unveils new promo shot & hits the studio with Will.i.am…

Britney Spears has released another new album promo for ‘Femme Fatale’. She has also confirmed that she’s been in the studio working with Black Eyed Peas frontman Will.i.am for the upcoming LP. The 29-year-old took to twitter to share the ‘exciting’ news: “In the studio with [Will.i.am]…you guys are gonna love this one” she tweeted.

UPDATED: “The song I did with Britney is ganna be crazy fresh. From the super bowl to the studio workin on a mega smasher. Can’t wait till its done” tweeted Will.i.am.

‘Love’ is subjective, and all depends on the individual. I can’t say this news excites me. I’m not a fan of his work or the production he has done for other artists (Usher, Rihanna, etc). I’d have been more excited if she said Pharrell. But then again, Britney is known for putting her own unique spin on things. You just never know how it will turn out.

The Jonas Akerlund directed clip will air simultaneously on VEVO and MTV.

It was previously reported that Chris Brown was set to release his ‘F.A.M.E’ album on March 29th. However, it appears Jive may have had a change of heart, with the March 22nd release date still standing.

Rihanna, Britney, Lady Gaga & Jen Hudson line up TV promo…

Britney Spears unveils ‘Femme Fatale’ album artwork…

Britney Spears has chosen ‘Femme Fatale’ as the official title of her new album. “I’ve poured my heart and soul into this album over the last 2 years” she says “I’ve put everything I have into it. This album is for you, my fans, who have always supported me and have stuck by me every step of the way! I love you all! Sexy and Strong. Dangerous yet mysterious. Cool yet confident!”

The title is a french expression used to describe a sexy woman known for using her irresistable charms to entice men, often under dangerous, and sometimes, deadly situations. It’s very much cohesive with the concept of her global smash ‘Hold It Against Me’. As for the artwork, it seems they are recycling pictures from the same photoshoot (see promotional photo and her ‘Hold It Against Me’ artwork). Same photos (mainly head shots). Different poses. It’s nice for what it is but just shows a lack of variation on her behalf. Oh well, it doesn’t really matter. It’s what the music sounds like that’s more important. ‘Femme Fatale’ is scheduled to drop in stores on March 15th.

Britney Spears sets March 15th for new album…

A label rep has confirmed to MTV News that Britney Spears‘ still-untitled LP is set to drop in stores on March 15th. The set will feature “multiple songs” from pop producers Max Martin and Dr. Luke. Additional production credits will also include Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins, Stargate, Fraser T. Smith, Bloodshy & Avant and more. Promotion for the project will include “a major TV event” and several campaigns.

The album will be available in a standard (soft pack/wallet packaging) edition and a deluxe (expanded soft pack with additional booklet pages) edition, which will feature three or four additional tracks. Jive are certainly bringing it this March! Britney on March 15th. Chris Brown a week later on March 22nd. Interesting.

Britney Spears shoots “spectacular” album artwork…

Britney Spears manager Adam Leber tweeted moments ago that the pop icon shot the artwork for her upcoming as-yet-untitled new album yesterday. He reveals: “Britney Spears did a photoshoot for her album package yesterday. Photos are nothing less than spectacular. We’ll share some soon”. I hope so, because having to use the same tired promo photo for all of my updates is becoming rather tedious.

And that has pretty much been the singer’s promotion throughout the entire era so far. Anticipated tweets. And, she still manages to break records doing NOTHING or without the aid of a music video. The momentum for her new single ‘Hold It Against Me’ appears to have cooled off however, as the song plummets from 1-6. Digital sales of the single has decreased by more than half (from 411,000 to 183,000, according to Billboard). Bruno Mars’ ‘Grenade’ has now knocked it from the top spot reclaiming his position on the Hot 100.

Britney album to sound “gritty & edgy” like ‘Blackout’…

Songwriter Claude Kelly, who composed several tracks for the upcoming new Britney Spears album tells People that she will be revisiting the grittier sounds of her 2007 release ‘Blackout’: “It’s more in the vein of the album before” he says “the last album [2008's Circus] was more clean pop. [Its purpose] was to reintroduce Britney to the world as the pop princess”. However, he admits not being completely sure what the “final product is going to be”.

He continues: “Dr. Luke and Max Martin are running the show, and it’s all about the beats. It has a heavier bass line and it’s much harder, more urgent, more club. She’s ready again!” Producer Danja who worked on both ‘Circus’ and ‘Blackout’ recently told MTV: “It’s still hard-hitting and still that same energy that people heard, but very today’s time. I don’t know what the project will end up being, but we’ll see”. It sounds like the album could spead its diarrhea all over ‘Circus’ but as they say – “we’ll see!”

First look at Britney’s ‘Hold It Against Me’ visual…

We didn’t post the fake photos of Britney Spears on the set her new music video for ‘Hold It Against Me’ because the “fansite” that leaked them is consistently known for being unreliable with their Britney ‘news’. Remember how they reported that the singer would not release her new album until 2012? You get my point. Anyway, it’s always best to wait until the exclusive is from Britney herself or her team, and wait we did. The pop titan took to twitter moments ago to post the first REAL official photo from the set of the Jonas Akerlund directed music video. The singer, who shot the visual over the weekend, is surrounded by a sea of microphones hinting that the video will draw upon the media’s obsession with her pop star phenomena.

“Such an incredible experience. I think this will be one of the best videos I have ever done” she tweeted before concluding that she had wrapped up day two of the shoot. She also informed her 6 million twitter followers that the hotly anticipated visual is on its way. The visual is shaping up to become one of the most hyped up music videos of all time after Lady Gaga and Beyonce‘s ‘Telephone’. The singer’s UK publicist Shoshanna Stone tweeted: “Britney’s ‘hold it against me’ video is going to blow everyone away. That is all”. The singer’s choreographer Brian Friedman, her manager Adam Leber and Britney herself have all gushed that she came hard with the choreography this time. Fingers crossed.

First look at Britney Spears costume design for new visual…

Mumbai-based designers Shane and Falguni Peacock have designed one of Britney Spears‘ looks for her upcoming ‘Hold It Against Me’ music video. This is the one that has been shortlisted. The red and pink ensemble features “a long train, strong shoulders and plenty of embellishment”.

The visual will be shot next week in Los Angeles after a week-long trek of gruelling rehearsals. Choreographer Brian Friedman announces that there’s: “one more day to rehearse” before they shoot the Jonas Åkerlund directed clip. Is it me or does it feel like they’ve been rehearsing forever. They really must be plotting to have the best music video this year? You never know. It might just end up being the best thing since sliced bread and hot chocolate!

Britney Spears debuts at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100…

A massive congratulations goes out to Britney Spears for having her new single ‘Hold It Against Me’ debut at #1 on the Billboard Hot 100. This marks the second time the singer consecutively debuted at #1 entry following her 2009 hit single ’3′. During its first week, ‘Hold It Against Me’ entered the Radio Songs chart at #23 with a record breaking 45 million audience impressions. On top of those amazing accomplishments, the pop titan broke both airplay and digital sales records when she sold a staggering 411k downloads this week.

This has effortlessly won her the #1 position on the Digital Songs chart. As a result, the 29-year-old has earned herself the accolade of becoming the female artist with the largest first week digital single sales (beating out Taylor Swift’s record of 325k downloads with ‘Today Was a Fairytale’). The singer now joins the legendary Mariah Carey as the only two artists to have multiple songs debut at #1 on the Hot 100! Bravo to Ms Spears!

Britney unveils Jonas Åkerlund as director for music visual…

Pop phenom Britney Spears has snagged noted director Jonas Åkerlund to shoot the music video for her hit single ‘Hold It Against Me’. Åkerlund’s widely impressive back catalogue include directed visuals for Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’ and Madonna’s ‘Ray Of Light’. “Dance, dance, and more dance,” the singer tweeted. “Getting ready to shoot the video for HIAM this week with Jonas Akerlund. Super excited!”

With so much emphasis put on the ‘dancing’ side of things, she better bring back that 2002 swagger or many Britney fans will be in for a very rude awakening. However, it’s great she’s at least making the effort. With the song encountering historic success, I think her fans definetely deserve an amazing music video this era. Whether she can throw out the ‘talk is cheap’ stigma and deliver it is something we’ll soon find out in the coming weeks.

Britney Spears to wear Indian inspired outfit in new video…

Pop titan Britney Spears is no stranger to Indian inspired outfits as she rocked one during her monumental ‘Circus’ tour in 2009. Details about what she will wear in her upcoming music video for current smash single ‘Hold It Against Me’ has now surfaced.

The singer is set to rock a couple of desi designed outfits for the hotly anticipated visual, courtesy of Mumbai-based designers Shane and Falguni Peacock.

Danja talks ‘Urban’ direction for new Britney Spears LP…

Super producer Danja spoke to MTV yesterday about his latest contribution towards the new Britney Spears record. The producer previously worked with the pop starlet on ‘Gimme More’, ‘Break the Ice’ and ‘Kill the Lights’ and reveals the two are still working on tracks together. When asked what kinds of songs he’s throwing together for the LP, he revealed:

“I just took my track level up. I just wanted to make sure it’s still hard-hitting and still that same energy that people heard, but very today’s time. So we’ll see. I don’t know what the project will end up being, but we’ll see. We did have a meeting like a year ago, and they wanted it to sound urban, hard-hitting, not so much dance, but just that similar sound”.

I think I went to heaven for a SPLIT SECOND when he said that her team were aiming for a more urban direction. I would love another ‘Blackout’ more than anything. To me, that album is pop genius. But then, that meeting was a YEAR AGO and so much has changed since then. Her lead single is very dancey. Plus, the project is being executive produced by Dr. Luke and Max Martin. We know they have a sound that caters to the dancepop/electronic market; a sound that has become very popular with the likes of Rihanna, Kesha and Katy Perry.

It is also the very sound many R&B acts are now hopping on to remain relevant. In related news, Britney was spotted at Basement dance studios in North Hollywood yesterday rehearsing really hard for her ‘Hold It Against Me’ music video. You can check out some super high quality photos here. Let’s just say those gruelling dance rehearsals must be kicking her ass because she looks terrible!

Britney Spears music video recieves ridiculous hype from Friedman…

Brian Friedman, the established choreographer behind Britney Spears‘s upcoming music video has hyped up the hotly anticipated visual to massive proportions. Apparently, the 29-year-old has been in gruelling dance rehearsals for her international chart topping smash ‘Hold It Against Me’. Friedman tells MTV that Britney absolutely blitzes the choreography like old times.

The Dr. Luke and Max Martin produced cut is also a dead cert to crash into the number one spot on the Billboard Hot 100 next week. As for Britney smashing this choreography, Britney hasn’t nailed any choreography in over five years. In fact, fans have been treated to loads of strutting across the stage with no effort put into her performances whatsoever. It’s a matter of we’ll believe it when we see it.

Britney spotted making her journey to dance studio…

Britney Spears was spotted preparing for her ‘Hold It Against Me’ music video, or possibly her first stage performance this year. I wonder if we really will get some real dancing this era. The pop pin-up was snapped in Los Angeles yesterday, arriving at a dance studio for some rehearsal on Tuesday (January 11th).

The jury is still out on whether or not she will perform at this year’s Grammy Awards, but now her reps are refusing to confirm, only telling OK! that “We have not confirmed a performance at the Grammys at this time”. Plus, it’s not like they haven’t pulled this kind of stunt before right?

Britney Spears’ hot new promotional shot!

It’s been Britney Spears overload today but I am pretty sure the fans aren’t complaining. They’re just pleased to see their bitch once again dominating the media, the radio, and more importantly, all the blogs! To celebrate the phenomenal success of ‘Hold It Against Me’, the 29-year-old has just released a brand new promo picture, which looks very lovely. Let’s look on the bright side, at least the weave looks decent. Peep the full photo below!

New Song: Britney Spears – ‘Hold It Against Me’…

The new Britney Spears single ‘Hold It Against Me’ surfaced online HOURS ahead of its official premiere today. The club ready dance track has Britney’s vocals on the Dr. Luke & Max Martin produced song and she practically nails it. In other words, she pretty much britnified the track and it sounds much more rousing then the demo that leaked last week.

The electronic savvy pop fest also comes complete with a banging dubstep-infused breakdown. Now, all we need is a hot dancentric music video, which I am not getting my hopes up for. Still, we can have a little itsy bit of hope right? Ryan Seacrest says she’s been rehearsing hard for the visual which will be shot around next week. Listen to the mastered finalised single of Britney Spears after the jump!
