With the MTV VMAs coming up in just a few more days, can you believe this September marks a full decade since Britney Spears shocked the world with her ‘Oops/Satisfaction’ performance?

The then 18-year-old was promoted as a virginal pop princess who was seen as a role model to all the teenyboppers that supported her music. That very night marked the end of the singer’s goody two shoes reign when she appeared on stage in a very revealing skin-coloured outfit, and delivered a sexually charged performance to boot. It went on to become VMA’s most iconic and controversial performances EVER.

Britney has not performed like this in years and some would say that after the K-Fed drama and the public breakdown, she has lost her stage swagger completely, but one thing she has not lost is her selling power and her ability to draw up hype. Britney Spears, we still salute you.

The 28-year-old makes the declaration of choosing her own destiny when being propositioned by a fortune teller. She looks pretty hot in this doncha think? The fragrance which will be distributed in September on behalf of Elizabeth Arden will be the ninth fragrance from the pop songstress.

Britney Spears hasn’t had much look on the marriage front. However, she is definetely glowing in her bridal gown for a new photoshoot with fashion magazine ‘Pop’…

The photoshoot is designed by iconic Japanese artist Takashi Murakami where she is transformed into a Japanese-styled Manga character: “I loved working with [Japanese artist Takashi Murakami” said Britney. “I especially liked how he took high-end fashion and incorporated it with Japanese manga. We looked at a lot of character and artwork before we shot, so I could get a feel for what he was looking for. I was in Japan on my past promo tour, and I loved it”. The magazine will hit the shops Sept 1st. Kudos to her for doing something different.

Britney Spears addresses Collaboration with Lady Gaga…

If you’re expecting a bitter chart rivalry between Britney Spears and Lady Gaga (ala Britney and Christina Aguilera), think again. Gaga may have dethroned Britney as the number one Twitter Queen, but these two are fast becoming potential besties. How boring!

Britney has done a brand new interview with British fashion magazine, Pop. Accompanied with the interview is a brand new haute couture photoshoot shot by Japanese artist Takashi Murakami. The 28-year-old thanked him on her twitter last night because he made her look “beautiful”. The magazine asked her if she would musically collaborate with Lady Gaga and in a sneak peak preview, she replied: “I’m a big fan of hers, anything’s possible!”. Source.

Britney Spears set to shoot second ‘Glee’ appearance…

Britney Spears must have enjoyed herself so much during her ‘Glee’ episode because now there’s talk that she is set to appear in a second one!

Co-creator Ryan Murphy says it is likely she could be featured in a second Glee cameo. When asked by Access Hollywood, he replied: “Probably” and didn’t really elaborate. Maybe he was trying his best not to give anything away because it may not be gauranteed, but it’s obvious there have been talks. So, are you looking forwards to Britney taking over Glee again? You can catch the season premiere of Glee on September 21st at 8pm on Fox (US viewers). The Britney episode will premiere on Sept 28th.

Britney Spears set to make Jason Trawick her husband…

Britney Spears is not even 30-years-old yet but she’s set to marry for the THIRD time…

The 28-year-old has been dating former agent Jason Trawick, 38, for over a year and they have reportedly set their wedding plans. The couple are hoping for it to take place in a “small, intimate ceremony” and “not a big media circus”. They are said to want to exchange vows by the end of the year and hope to cement it with another baby in the foreseeable future. Lady Gaga has now been crowned the brand new Twitter queen after stripping Britney Spears of the throne…

One pop sensation replaces another on the popular social networking site. Apparently, Lady Gaga has just surpassed Britney as the most followed person on Twitter. At the time of writing, the 24-year-old has 5,666,500 followers, 100 more than Britney, after the star joined Twitter on March 26th, 2008. Twitter is a testament to ones popularity. Result!

Pop pin-up Britney Spears will NOT be attending the MTV VMAs this year because she wants to concentrate on completing her new album…

This news was confirmed by her manager Adam Leber: “The bad news is, Brit wont be attending this years VMA’s” he writes “The good news is, she wont be attending because she is heavily focused on finishing her new album which is incredible so far!” Source.

It was suspected for quite some time that the VMAs legend would not be attending this year. However, if that means putting more focus into her next project so that she delivers the hotness, what exactly is there to complain about? Nice way to stroke the bad news! The new album will mark the last one in her contract with Jive Records after she agreed to record three more prior to ‘In The Zone’.

Britney Spears shot scenes for her ‘Glee’ episode yesterday (August 18th), and she wants everyone to know she had “so much fun on set”. The singer even released the very first onset photo:

“Can’t wait for you guys to see the episode!” she writes enthusiastically. The shoot was said to be a success, and fans will be ecstatic to know that they finally got ther Britney ep. It’s not yet known when the episode will premiere but I don’t doubt it will be just as entertaining as Madonna and Lady Gaga’s.

Britney’s “crazy” direction for new album…

Dubstep producer Rusko has come forward to confirm that Britney Spears has roped him in to work on her seventh studio album. He says she chose to work with him because she wants to put out something “crazy”…

“The thing is, they could go to the regular people who make hit pop records if they wanted something straight” he says “but the whole reason they came to me was because I make more weird music anyway, so I already have a license to be crazy with it. It’s Britney, she’s got money. If she didn’t want crazy she could ask someone who had a massive string of hit albums before, you know?”. Read more.

Britney attends Lady Gaga’s concert!

Two Pop superstars were in union last night. Britney Spears attended Lady Gaga’s ‘Monster Ball’ concert at the Staples centre in Los Angeles!

Britney actually tweeted that she was on her way to the show. Lady Gaga’s bestie Perez Hilton was also in the house as well, and allegedly Katy Perry (shocking I know). The singer was presented with a 13 million albums sold plaque and she choked up with elation. Britney & Gaga also met backstage at the concert. Overall, many concert goers appraised the show as a night to remember.

Britney Spears is coming to Glee! No, she’s NOT being played by another actress. Thee REAL Britney is making a Glee appearance! Glee creator Ryan Murphy confirmed the exciting news to Ryan Seacrest. Source. Source.

“She is pop culture, it’s going to be kind, not about her personal life” says Murphy of the upcoming episode “You know she’s been through a lot, but we want to do this episode to say thank you very much for all you’ve done and we’re encouraging you to continue being as fantastic as you are”.

Britney Album Announcement on its way, According to Fansite…

Rumours about the new Britney Spears album has surfaced over the weekend. After deciding on whether this rumour should be entertained or not, it’s actually post-worthy for a slow news day. Although on a fast news day, we’d have left it alone and waited for something more concrete and official…

Earlier in the week, the singer’s manager Adam Leber denied that a new album release date was coming out. However, one of her fansites Gimme Britney has reported that this is untrue. The website teases with a video on its homepage about Britney’s new single and states that the announcement about the new album would be on August 27th. They even have a timer on their site counting down the big day. According to the site, the single is supposedly titled ‘It’s a Secret’ and will drop on September 7th. As for the album release date, it is scheduled for November 2nd.

Whilst it is advised that fans take this news with a grain of salt, the same fansite had previously announced Britney’s last compilation album (The Singles Collection) before any representatives from Britney’s camp even acknowledged it. The only thing about this news that sounds authentic is the release date as the 29-year-old is often known to release albums in November. The singer’s third album, ‘Britney’, was released in November 2001. ‘In the Zone’ was released in November 2003. And ‘Circus’ was released in November 2008.

Not content with featuring on Katy Perry’s smash single ‘California Gurls’, rapper Snoop Dog has set his eyes on yet another popular Pop songstress – Britney Spears.

REPORT: ‘Glee’ episode to Mock Britney’s Meltdown…

Glee creators have infuriated the fans of Britney Spears after it was officially confirmed that they plan to mock her previous meltdown. The leading character Will Schuester will shave his head for the upcoming Britney Spears-themed episode.

“The recreating of Brit shaving her head is going to be epic!” reveals a source, exclusively to Just Jared. This week, Glee creator Ryan Murphy also announced during the TCA press tour that they plan to pay tribute to her in “a sort of fun and unexpected way”. The report was then confirmed by Life & Style who reveal that a casting call DID go out on July 28th for a double for Schuester which read “Must be willing to shave your head on camera”.

I can’t believe they’re doing that. What was suppose to be a really fun episode is now set to become an insulting farce. I know I would not want anyone making fun of my mental illness on one of America’s most popular show. I’m sure that’s one dark chapter in her life she has no desire to look back on, especially with a TV show set to make fun of it. Mental illness is no joke, people. I wonder how her family feel about it. Screw that, I wonder how she feels about it. Hopefully, her fans bombard them with negative complaints so that they’re forced to ditch the head-shaving scene completely.

He says: “Brit has a new mag cover & spread coming out in the next month or so which is going to be SICK! Will let Brit reveal the details herself. Report: Britney Spears to release New Single in a few weeks?

As reported in a previous post, producer Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins had a Ustream session last night where he spilled the beans on the upcoming albums of Beyonce and Britney Spears. He didn’t say much about the Britney album except that he’s been producing for it, which we’ve known about for months. HOWEVER, he also hinted the following: “Britney fans are gonna be so happy in a few weeks” Source.

Seriously, I wish he didn’t do that. Now Britney fans will be in a frenzy about the possibility that she is set to debut her new single at this years VMA Awards. EVERY year, the Pop starlet is rumoured to perform there only for the speculation to be false. But having said that, if he knows something we don’t, Britney fans could very well be in for a nice surprise. Fingers crossed.

It seems the creators are pulling out all the stops to ensure this episode is as big as the Madonna one or larger. Britney will NOT be making a personal appearance, but I think many of us knew that already. However, her music videos will be recreated and her costumes will be imitated.
