Lady Gaga to headline Radio 1?s Big Weekend…

Lady Gaga has officially become the poster child for showing an artist how an album should be properly promoted. She can do it big on name alone and not feel the need to sweat out her neon yellow wigs with over-promotion. She chooses to do so because just like Beyonce, she takes her career very seriously. Rather than wait until the week her new album drops, Gaga has carefully planned her promo months in advance.

Countless radio interviews, a performance at a prestigious awards ceremony, two music videos and now a headlining gig at Radio 1′s Big Weekend. All of this, and yet her new album has yet to even hit stores. Gaga’s Radio 1 gig has been timed in nicely with her promo as she will take to the stage in Carlisle a week BEFORE her LP ‘Born This Way’ drops in UK stores. The gigs will take place on Saturday May 14th and Sunday May 15th with Gaga headlining on the 15th. Then, on May 22nd, she will release her new album. Check out her official statement below.

Speaking to BBC Radio 1, Gaga said: ”I’m so excited to be coming to Radio 1?s Big Weekend in Carlisle. I’ve been planning and rehearsing for so many months now and after 2 years of working on my new album I’ll get to do a great big performance in the UK. I’m mostly excited for Radio 1?s Big Weekend because I can’t wait to see all of the monsters in the UK. Expect a monster avant-garde pop fantasia. This event is so important to me because BBC Radio 1 was one of the first stations to really support my artistry and my music and I get to come back and enjoy this moment with all of you. Thank you so much for all of your love and support and for always believing in me as an artist. I can’t wait to see you. Paws up BBC Radio 1.”

Rihanna plugs bottled TAP water in sexy new commercial…

“Rihanna, now collaborating with her kitchen sink”

In the new commercial ‘Celebrity Tap’, Rihanna does what Rihanna does best. She catwalks her way to a sink and pours herself some water before pursing her lips to the glass and sips. The Tap Project offers fans the chance to win a collection of bottled TAP water and encourages them to sign onto the UNICEF Tap website and donate $5 towards the cause.

For every $1 donated to the CelebrityTap campaign, UNICEF will provide safe and clean water to a child in need for 40 days. Watch Rihanna using her sexuality to plug the bottled TAP water in the new commercial below!

Leona Lewis backs Humane Society campaign in new photoshoot…

Leona Lewis hit it on the head with this new look.

The new nose job, while not needed, definetely compliments her face. Plus, her new album is also coming a long very nicely with both Tricky Stewart and Sia Furler recently confirming their contributions to the project. As for the drop dead gorgeous photo above, the Animal rights activist and staunch vegetarian proves her point in ink as she shows support to Humane Society International’s Cruelty-Free 2013 campaign to ban animal-tested cosmetics.

The high quality photoshoot was conducted last week in Los Angeles with photographer Christopher Ameruoso. When Leona believes in something, she totally stands by it one hundred and ten percent. That was pretty much evident when she threatened to drop out from attending last years Brit Awards if they went ahead with serving up french dish foie gras (made from the livers of fattened ducks). She succeeded. Peep the hot new photo in its entirety below.

Christina Aguilera plugs new line in latest C&A commercial…

Life in deed ‘Keeps Gettin’ Better’ for Christina Aguilera. The singer joins her fellow pop titan Beyonce to premiere her new line of clothing for Brazilian department store C&A. Homegirl looks great in her new commercial and I can really see Aggy making a steady comeback to music in the foreseeable future. Last year, her career got suckered into a big black draping hole and a flicker of hope sparkled when her movie ‘Burlesque’ encountered moderate success worldwide.

The singer’s coveted new role of coach and judge on NBC’s singing competition ‘The Voice’ will enable audiences to see another side to Aggy’s personality. That’s definetely important when trying to win over the masses. You can check out her new C&A commercial after the cut. The singer’s new line is scheduled to launch in April.

Beyonce plays hide & seek with the paparazzi…

Following this week’s shocking announcement in regards to ending her professional relationship with pimp daddy, Beyonce showed up in New York City yesterday. It’s funny seeing her trying to hide her face from the hungry shutterspeeds of a pap cam, when in the next couple of weeks, her face will be hounding us everywhere. And I literally mean everywhere. TV, radio, magazines, Billboards, and even when you want to enjoy a quiet breakfast at your local Macdonalds, there will be no getting away from the ridiculous hype machine that awaits us.

The singer was confirmed to have done a photoshoot this week. It is speculated that the shoot was for her album artwork. And now that April has arrived, her headlining Glastonbury gig, as well as a press release for her new single gets even more closer.

What does it mean for Britney’s sketchy first week sales?

Britney Spears is set to encounter one of the lowest first week sales of her career with new album ‘Femme Fatale’. Projected first sales for the album are billed at 275k-300k which is enough to secure her the #1 spot next week. Sadly, she is doing the same numbers as her label mate Chris Brown. Good numbers for him but not for her (last album ‘Circus’ pushed 501k). The numbers reflect that die-hard fans are not happy with what was served up this era.

‘Femme Fatale’ era has been met with one disaster after another. Fans turned on the singer and critisised her ‘Hold It Against Me’ video after her so-called “epic” choreography did not match all of the over hyped banter. Her second generic single screamed Kesha and not Britney. And then she waited until the very last minute to start doing performances and horrible ones at that. If she’s not enjoying life as a pop star, she should remove herself from showbiz and concentrate on being a mother to her young sons.

Britney’s life is so controlled, she does not even know what takes place on her own website. Her interviews and tweets are closely monitored, and she does not have full control of her hard earned cash. If she’s not well enough to handle her own finances, she should not be pursuing a full fledged pop career. She is surrounded by people who only care about money and not her emotional well-being. Has anyone ever asked her if her heart was still in it?

‘Femme Fatale’ is not a bad album and I found it rather enjoyable. It’s a shame they are choosing the worst songs as singles. Maybe fans are not necessarily boycotting the artist but are making a stand against the label and all of the poor management that has gone into the project.

Rihanna explains decision to lift restraining order against Chris…

Say what you want about the situation but anyone could see that Chris Brown was the love of Rihanna‘s life. Her short relationships with Drake and Matt Kemp were rebounds that were never destined to last. In the new issue of Rolling Stone, Rihanna explains her decision to relax her restraining order against Chris after he brutally beat her up. Since agreeing to it, she has encountered a lot of flack for the decision. Several people were upset fearing she’d jump back into bed with him.

For the remainder of his five-year probabtion, the singer was ordered by the court not to come within 50 yards of Rihanna, and 10 yards if they attend the same public events. Softening the ban meant the ex-couple can now have contact as long as he does not annoy, molest or harass her. One blogger who took the news badly was former Rihanna supporter Sandra Rose who criticised the singer on twitter.

The popular blogger directly tweeted to the singer: “I just unfollowed Rihanna. I don’t follow fools. She’s a disgrace to the fans who love her. The true fans who supported Rihanna through those tough times after Chris Brown beat her azz deserve better than this”. The pop vixen, who is fast becoming known for her fiesty twitter comebacks replied: “I would’ve sworn he beat YOUR ass, just by how upset you are! My fans don’t care about a restraining order and neither do I!” She then went on to make a joke about white and black blogs turning on her for making the decision.

“You can never please people,” Rihanna complains, pointing at bloggers who blasted the move.“That’s my decision…It doesn’t mean we’re getting married tomorrow. It doesn’t mean we’re gonna be in a relationship, or make up, or even talk ever again. It just means I didn’t want to object to the judge,” she explains.

“What he did to me was a personal thing,” Rihanna says of the attack. “It had nothing to do with his career. Saying [he can't perform at awards show] definitely made it difficult for him.”

But, she takes pains to clarify: “We don’t have to talk again ever in my life. I just didn’t want to make it more difficult for him professionally.” Source.

Rihanna should not feel bad about her decision to lift the ban. Agreeing to it won her a legion of respect from Breezy supporters especially those who always felt that her consistency to speak about ‘the incident’ in interviews was her way of trying to sabotage his career (he did that himself). Of course that was never the case since it was the interviewers who would constantly bring up the issue and not her.

New Song: Jennifer Lopez feat Lil Wayne – ‘I’m Into You’…

Jennifer Lopez taps into some Island flavour with her next single ‘I’m Into You’ from her upcoming new album ‘Love?’. The Lil’ Wayne assisted cut was a previously recorded demo for Taio Cruz and uses the exact same beat as Ne-yo‘s ‘Halo’. However, the Latina Lovely successfully manages to put her own spin on the midtempo tropical record and exploring a sparse caribbean sound in which she’s never visited before.

This is actually what makes ‘Into You’ a very interesting record. It is not as good or as catchy as her latest smash ‘On The Floor’, and although you could easily dismiss it as a rejected Rihanna cut, ‘Into You’ still has that radio friendly spark. It’s one of those songs where you’re just chilling in your ride with the speakers blasting and it punches the atmosphere with its summery overtones.

Britney releases MTV trailer, performs on ‘Kimmel’ & angers Enrique…

Britney Spears pressed on with her promotional chores last night by taking to the stage on Jimmy Kimmel Live. Given her latest lukewarm performances, is it any wonder Enrique Iglesias pulled out of their joint tour just hours after it was announced yesterday? Apparently, the latin heart throb is furious that the press release for the tour made him look like an unestablished support act, when he is respected enough to be acknowledged as an equal headliner. This little detail was missed out causing Enrique to angrily take action.

The biggest slap in the face? Her tour earnings would eclipse his by several times. Britney is not giving her all in these performances. Yet, she is made to get all the credit for putting on a lazy show. No one can fault him especially given that talent-wise, Enrique is the more superior. At present, negotiations are underway to ensure the tour actually goes ahead.

Britney’s appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live was also preceded by a trailer for her special MTV documentary which is titled ‘I Am Femme Fatale’. The singer takes us through her journey putting together ‘Femme Fatale’, as well as reflecting on turning 30-years-old this December. The special will air Mother’s Day on April 3rd. Both the trailer and her latest performance/skits can be watched below.

Chris Brown lights up stage on ‘Dancing With The Stars’…

Chris Brown almost lost his crucial promotional gig on last night’s ‘Dancing With The Stars’. Prior to GMA gatesville, we’re glad he didn’t. As expected, he delivered dancentric red bull performances of ‘Yeah 3x’, ‘Forever’ and ‘Beautiful People’. Although it was heavily lip synched from beginning to end, the amount of tricks, special effects and acrobatics involved compensated for his lack of live vocals. Plus, it IS a DANCING show after all.

Breezy’s new album ‘F.A.M.E’ sits comfortably at #1 on the Billboard 200 after pushing a very impressive 273k in its first week. This latest achievement sees the 21-year-old securing his first #1 album of his career. Now that‘s something worth dancing about!
