Rihanna performed her latest hit single ‘Only Girl’ on the UK X Factor tonight. You can now check out how she faired.
After the not so great vocal delivery on SNL earlier this morning, Rihanna managed to redeem herself by putting on a much better performance. The 22-year-old mainly walked up and down the stage in a baby pink dress to a song that practically COMMANDED a lively routine. But hey, at least she stepped it up vocally. Some parts was sung live and the more difficult parts were lip synched.
She also made her entrance behind a banquet table, complete with about 30 diners. The theatrics, props and the food fight brought the fun factor to the entire presentation but it really wasn’t needed. All she had to do was to put on a decent vocal performance tonight which she did. We all know she’s not going to bust out into some fascinating choreography, so we shouldn’t expect much although we know she’s capable.

Rihanna performs on ‘Saturday Night Live’…

Rihanna visited ‘Saturday Night Live’ a few moments ago where she appeared as a musical guest. She performed new singles ‘What’s My Name’ and ‘Only Girl’…
The 22-year-old started the show with a performance of her second single, ‘What’s My Name?’. The vocals weren’t exactly perfect but she proceeded to complement the Island-influenced R&B number with several grinding and wining here and there. Midway through, she had to check her boobs just to see if they were firmly in place. It was like watching the ‘Rude Boy’ performance all over again with with a little less oomph. The negative? Her backing singers practically drowned her out.
The next segment of the show was the sequel to Andy and Rihanna’s classic SNL Digital Short entitled ‘Ronnie & Clyde’. Rihanna and Shy Ronnie team up to rob a bank. She is practically trying to get Ronnie to man up and aggressively threaten the bank workers, but she feels like a right idiot when he fails to emphasise the traits of a hard nut bank robber. The skit made me smile but I certainly wasn’t howling like I did with the first one.
For the last part of the show, she performed her lead single ‘Only Girl (In The World)’, and as much as I love me some Princess Riri, the performance was all sorts of wrong. Something really weird was going on with her microphone and it didn’t sound very pretty. Isn’t autotune suppose to make you sound good? What was with the effects? And just when you thought things couldn’t get any worse, she forgot her lyrics. Maybe I need my stanism card revoked or something because I cannot defend the performance even if I tried. I hated the rock-infused elements they added to the song as well. Then you had her backing singers not doing much to help her cause. Let’s hope and pray she does much better with her performance on tonight’s X Factor.
Tamia snags Darkchild for new album…

The criminally underrated Tamia has just confirmed on twitter that she has snagged Rodney ‘Darkchild’ Jerkins for her upcoming new studio album…
“So excited to be working with Darkchild next for my new project” she tweeted enthusiastically (Source). Darkchild did the gotdamn thang with Tamia‘s ‘Can’t Get Enough’ so it could be good. I DO like Darkchild but I think he’s losing it. Although I liked what he did for the last Beyonce album, I don’t think his songs are as good as they once were and he’s started to experiment with the ever rising electropop ripping off the likes of David Guetta and RedOne just so that he can extend his services to the big pop names out right now (Lady Gaga’s ‘Telephone’, the new Britney album, etc). #Moneytalks. As a result, his sound is no longer his.
Remember the days where we could actually identify his sound and say ‘Yeah, that’s a Darkchild’ beat’?. Well, not anymore. Thankfully, Tamia is a TRUE artist and there is no way she’d do a dancepop record. She’s not a household name so it would probably get pushed under the rug anyway. She’s all about the oldschool R&B. If she did do dancepop, I REALLY would jump off a cliff this time.

Bow Wow and Chris Brown premiered their music video for latest single ‘Ain’t Thinkin’ About You’ a few hours ago…
The clip was directed by Breezy’s favourite director Colin Tiley. It was decent for what it was but nothing amazing. I like that Breezy is fast becoming the artist everyone wants to work with now. He recently featured on Twista‘s new single, he’s on the new T.I song, Justin Bieber pretty much hinted that they are working together and it has been confirmed that he collaborated on songs with Drake and Usher.
Last year, nobody would touch him with a bargepole fearing it could be a bad career move for them. Now everyone is lining up! If that’s not a sign ones popularity is back, I don’t know what is.

Michael Jackson‘s family are claiming several songs on his upcoming album do not feature the late superstar’s vocals…
The preparation for the release is said to have been thrown into chaos after his family are emphasising that several tracks recorded in 2007 do not contain Michael’s vocals. A forensic audiologist has also been hired to analyse the tracks to determine whether or not the vocals are one hundred per cent. The album will be distributed by Sony who reportedly has a £125m deal with the late singer’s estate. Source.
As I said previously, the rush to release new MJ music this Christmas is just the label’s way to exploit the hunger of his fans wanting to hear the last of his work before his death. If the authentication of the vocals are being questioned, that’s a shame and people should exercise more caution when spending their cash.

The pair spoke about their success on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ before the subject of discussion turned to Brandy’s non-existant love life. When Ellen says that her dream man “could be here right now” you could tell Maksim was expecting her to point at him and not at the Tony guy standing yards away. Hilarious moment. Pop phenom Lady Gaga has become hugely popular after collaborating with some of the biggest names in Hip-Hop and R&B (Kid Cudi, Wale, Beyoncé, etc). Although Gaga has yet to collaborate with popular rapper Nicki Minaj, the Young Money lyricist says she’s definetely open to changing that situation…
“I’m inspired by her creativity,” Minaj said. “The women in the game, I never say I would never work with them because, in fact, if there’s an opportunity for me to work with them, and it’s a way that we can kill the game and do something crazy, why would I turn that down?” (Source).

When you’re a mega superstar who is constantly in the media glare, looking good for the camera from head to toe is most often a requirement. That is, if you don’t want to face ridicule at the hands of blogs and glossy magazines.
The good thing is, although neither of us willl have their type of money in this lifetime – at least we can feel a little better that despite their millions, we still look more presentable than them.

A new promo video for Rihanna‘s ‘Saturday Night Live’ appearance tonight has now surfaced…

Shortly after tweeting that message he posted a clip of himself before hitting the big time singing Chris’s hit song ‘With You’. I think my 17-year-old sister is going to have a heart attack. Canadian singer Nelly Furtado premieres the Alan Ferguson directed visual for her new single ‘Night Is Young’…
The music video takes on a ‘Girls Wanna Have Fun’ type of theme as Nelly and her gals paint a night out on the tiles with a joyride, a dance-off and some nightclub action. The choir scene at the beginning was random as hell and not cohesive with the rest of the clip.
Whilst I think the Salami Remi produced uptempo is cool, she’s certainly had better songs and visuals in the past. The song is lifted from Ms Furtado’s greatest hits compilation, ‘The Best of Nelly Furtado’ which will drop in stores on November 16th. Watch the visual after the jump.

The impending and very anticipated opus will be co-executive produced by both Luke and Max Martin. He says: “She’s such an icon, I don’t want to let anyone down.
