Christina Aguilera debuts commercial for ‘Royal Desire’ fragrance…

Christina Aguilera‘s brand new commercial for her new perfume ‘Royal Desire’ hit online shores this week…

The 29-year-old goes all retro glam for the promotional shoot. You too can feel like a “Queen” once you get to buying and spraying. At least that is what they’d have you believe. It’s just a shame she is not on that musical throne where she should be right now. #R.i.pBionic! Ms Aguilera looked beautiful in the commercial and the overall presentation was a very classy affair…

Ciara & Keri Hilson to release albums on the SAME day!

Keri Hilson and Ciara may not be the best of friends but their secret feud is set to ignite further when the two go head to head in the album stakes!

Ciara’s ‘Basic Instinct’ and Keri’s ‘No Boys Allowed’ are both billed to drop in stores on the same dayNovember 30th! Now this is something! We’ve been missing an exciting chart battle for quite some time now especially where R&B is concerned. Usually, you will get an artist too scared to drop their album on the same day as a heavyweight.

The good news is, neither of them are heavyweights. In fact, they have both struggled immensely. Therefore, neither of them should consider each other a threat so this should be quite a fair battle. First week predictions will be interesting! Who is YOUR money on?

Sony releases second trailer for Aguilera’s ‘Burlesque’…

Sony Pictures has released a brand new extended trailer for Christina Aguilera‘s upcoming movie ‘Burlesque’

The singer’s character certainly goes on a mission to prove to her boss that she’s the perfect star to grace the stage. This new trailer is more insightful than the first one. In fact, it may even have you tempted to see more. You can watch the movie on November 24th when it hits US theatres.

Out & About: Janet Jackson & new fella attend ‘Cavalli’ party…

Pop icon Janet Jackson and her billionaire boyfriend, Qatar business mogul Wissam Al Mana were spotted last night holding hands at the Roberto Cavalli 40th anniversary party in Paris…

Unlike Craig David and Leona Lewis, the singer and her man decided to skip the red carpet and were spotted sneaking out the back entrance. Even when they were caught by the paps, in some of the photos, her fella tried to hide his face.
.
If he’s not such a media hungry individual, maybe he is dating the wrong person. I mean, she is only a woman who hails from one of the world’s biggest musical families. Janet deserves happiness after the last 15 months of heartbreak, but the only thing attractive about this man is his money.

New Music: Ciara’s response towards her haters is to ‘Shut ‘Em Up’…

Ciara appears to be on a rampage with these latest ‘hater’ attacks. Remember her song ‘Basic Instinct (U Got Me)’? Well, new leak ‘Shut ‘Em Up’ follows in that same format. The track is produced by Infinity for Kingpin Entertainment Group

The bass-heavy song is furiously fierce with its pounding drum machine beats, synthesisers and punching lyrical content. ‘Shut ‘Em Up’ is believed to be lifted from the recording sessions of her upcoming ‘Basic Instinct’ LP. The track sees the songstress making it her mission to put down the gag on her haters through hard work and sheer success. In fact, she stresses that the more they talk sh*t, the more power they give her.

I’m really digging this. The beat is absolutely bananas and already, I am seeing another hot dance visual. This is the type of song I was hoping Keri Hilson would put out. Can you imagine if she did? The online buzz would be crazy because then, everyone would be saying it would be some sort of answer back. Still, you’ve got to admire their defiant attitudes expressed in their new music. Girl power.

Out & About: Leona Lewis & Craig David attend ‘Cavalli’ party…

UK stars Leona Lewis and Craig David attended the star-studded 40th anniversary party for Italian designer Roberto Cavalli last night.

Leona was snapped in this stunning pumpkin-coloured Roberto Cavalli ballgown with cascading ruffles. She reportedly took to the stage to serenade the designer. Meanwhile, the jury is still out on Craig’s ensemble where it seems he just does not know how to trade in his beloved high tops. A nice pair of dress shoes would have been more appropriate.

However, it shows the 29-year-old still hasn’t quite lost his touch just yet since he constantly gushed about his A-list invite on twitter. The Goodwill Ambassador will also donate a new, original song to the fight against Tuberculosis. Both stars have been documenting their sessions in the recording studio last week as they prepare to release new albums next year.

Quincy Jones: “Jennifer Hudson tore ‘You Put A Move On My Heart’ up!”…

Jennifer Hudson has covered Tamia‘s R&B classic ‘You Put a Move On My Heart’. The legendary Quincy Jones, who produced the track, gushes about the Grammy winner’s take on the song which will now appear on his ‘Q: Soul Bossa Nostra’ project. What did he say exactly?

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, he states: “Jennifer said, ‘I need to be on the album’. I said, ‘Jennifer, there’s no way in the world I would bug you about something like that’. She said, ‘Quincy, you don’t understand — I need to be on that album’. She just tore ‘You Put A Move On My Heart’ up” (Source).

We’ve known about this since March but his comments makes it all the more official. The very outstanding ‘You Put a Move On My Heart’ was first recorded by my favourite R&B singer Tamia back in 1995. It was actually her very first single from her classic self-titled debut album (a personal favourite of mine). It’s an extremely hard song to sing, so I’m most certainly curious to hear what J. Hud did with it. The album ‘Q: Soul Bossa Nostra’ is due out on November 9th.

Keri Hilson performs new single ‘Pretty Girl Rock’ for the first time in NYC…

Last night, Keri Hilson performed her brand new single ‘Pretty Girl Rock’ in Times Square (September 29th) for the ‘Beats By Dr. Dre’ event. The song title has now changed from yesterday by the way. Check out the very first listen of the track below, as well as the performance!:

Keri is seen grooving it out on stage in hotpants and a sexy ‘Pretty Girl Rock’ routine to boot. She knows she looks good and she’s letting the whole world know fair and square! “Girls think I’m conceited because I know I’m attractive” she sings confidently “Don’t hate me ‘cos I’m beautiful!”

‘Pretty Girl Rock’ which is jointly helmed by Chuck Harmony and Ne-yo is more radio friendly than ‘Breaking Point’. The lead single was also a good song but lacked commercial appeal. ‘Pretty Girl Rock’ has more of a cross over vibe as it can now be considered a pop-tinged R&B midtempo. It’s not oldschool retro like the first single so now it may recieve a better reception. I don’t  hear instant  ‘smash’ straight away. I was expecting something more uptempo and hard hitting. Nice song though.

Keri’s sophomore album ‘No Boys Allowed’ currently has no release date but it is expected to drop at the end of the year.

Rihanna’s album ‘Loud’ gets its first Preview…

Rihanna’s LOUD Album — Exclusive JustJared.com Preview…

Last night in the NYC office of chairman/CEO of Island Def Jam L.A. Reid, JustJared.com were given the privilege of listening to Rihanna’s new album, ‘Loud’. They report that “this will be the biggest album yet!” Check out the tracklisting of the nine songs that were heard.

‘S&M’: It’s definitely a club banger and the naughtiest song of all! Here are some of the sample lyrics as best I heard them: “I may be bad but I’m perfectly good… There’s sex in the air. I don’t care, I love the smell of it… Sticks and stones may break my bones but chains and whips excite me. I like it, come on, come on.”

‘Only Girl (In The World)’: The whole room was dancing along! During the lyrics “hold me like a pillow,” L.A. hugged himself like a pillow, too. Funny moment!

Marsha Ambrosius releases album artwork for ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’…

Former Floetry songstress Marsha Ambrosius releases the official artwork for her debut solo album ‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’.

She looks great. You can tell she’s enjoying all of that weight loss because she’s donning sexier clothes for several of her promo shots. The old Marsha would not have been seen dead in this. Ha.

‘Late Nights & Early Mornings’ will be released on November 9th courtesy of J. Records. It will be preceded by lead single ‘Hope She Cheats on You (With a Basketball Player)’. One of my favourite R&B joints of 2010.

Keri Hilson releases artwork for new single ‘Pretty Girls’…

With lead single ‘Breaking Point’ failing to make noise, Keri Hilson is rushing out a second single titled ‘Pretty Girls’. Here is the official artwork for it below:

The track is produced by Chuck Harmony and penned by Ne-yo, lifted from her upcoming new album ‘No Boys Allowed’. The track goes to itunes on October 12th, so we should hear the track no later than next week. She really is rocking this new hair mad hard but I can’t help seeing Rihanna in ‘Rude Boy’ with that blonde tussle.

As for the track, it sounds like it might just be another urban affair. It had better be uptempo and catchy because everyone and their mama instantly knew that ‘Breaking Point’ had no hit potential whatsoever.

Janelle Monae rocks out with ‘Tightrope’ on ‘Dancing With The Stars’…

Soul sensation Janelle Monae provided audiences with a raw energetic performance of ‘Tightrope’ on ‘Dancing With The Stars’ last night…

Monae’s performances are always a beauty to watch. The 24-year-old grinds it out on stage with the James Brown-inspired dance moves, even with the live vocals. Very commendable. However, it would be interesting to see her change up this 70′s inspired choreography and image. Michael Jackson did similar moves when he was a boy but later went on to craft his own unique style of dancing.

Even though he was heavily inspired by Brown, he always found a way to make it his own without the blatant copying. I’m not saying Monae is a straight up swagger jacker but when it comes to her performances I would love to see MORE diversity from time to time because she’s starting to come across as a one trick pony.

Eric Benet releases ‘Lost In Time’ artwork & Official Press Release…

Official Press Release & HQ album cover (distributed Sept 29th)…

If Eric Benet’s career can be defined by anything, it’s the purity of emotion. He’s consistently made music that speaks to love and speaks from the soul and on ‘Lost In Time’ he does it once again. Featuring duets with Faith Evans, Chrisette Michele, Ledisi and the O’Jays Eddie Levert, ‘Lost In Time’ is at once a sumptuous homage to and an expansion of the sweet soul of the 1970′s.

“I want people to remember what music is and what it can feel like; and to do that, I knew the record had to be all about the musician and the actual song” offers the multiple-Grammy nominee. “The desire to do that took me all the way back to that time—around 1972 through 1976—and like a lot of others, my development as an artist is a direct result of being immersed in that era”. To keep that connection to the music and time that shaped him, Eric returned to his hometown of Milwaukee, WI and recorded with local musicians, including the Milwaukee Symphony’s string section. “I like loops and a drum machines as much as the next person; but when it comes to something that resonates in your soul, you have to have something constructed with live musicians”.

The emotion runs deep on the lush first single ‘Sometimes I Cry’, written and produced by Eric and long-time creative partner (and cousin) George Nash Jr. ‘Sometimes I Cry’ is about how you’ve completely moved on but still there’s still some melancholy about the break-up. Maybe you’re even dating somebody, but sometimes, when you’re alone, you cry and you’re sad about what could have been”.

New Music: Tiffany Evans debuts new single ‘I’ll Be There’…

R&B songstress Tiffany Evans debuts her brand new single ‘I’ll Be There’, from her upcoming new album ‘Ms. Tiffany’, and even unveils a new promo photo below…

The 18-year-old is preparing to release her new album on Music World/Columbia. Now she is showing us that she is ready to make a splash with ‘I’ll Be There’. The track pays much emphasis on the singer’s stunning vocal range.

The powerballad is backed by a nice piano melody before the production builds up with the added bass and drums. I’m in awe at how much her vocals have matured over the years. The singers transitioning from young girl to young woman has been a nice progress. Awesome song. Gifted singer. Nice message.

Ciara premieres ‘Speechless’ music video…

R&B songstress Ciara premieres her Collin Tilley-directed music video for new single ‘Speechless’

Watching this video was the equivalent to watching paint dry. It was boring. No dancing. No concept. No nothing. Many of us are not use to seeing Ciara solely relying on her “vocals” (or lack of) to carry a whole music video. Even with her slower cuts, she always manages to incorporate some form of choreography (see ‘Promise’).

We also posted three photos from this very video shoot over the weekend. The photographer blatantly DENIED that they were from the clip. It turns out that they were. All three of them! Anyway, I’m over this already. Bring on ‘Gimmie Dat’!

Shontelle’s new album holds ‘No Gravity’ after selling a paltry 7K…

Oh dear. Barbadian songstress Shontelle has only managed to shift an eye-watering 7,000 copies of her new album ‘No Gravity’

The project has also landed at a paltry #53. We were never expecting her to pull a million copies in her first week. However, with lead single ‘Impossible’ being a hit on the Hot 100, it is believed such success of the track would somewhat solidify decent numbers.

Even with a decent pop album on her hands, her lack of a fanbase is what let her down. There is only ONE Barbadian who gets to fully dominate on this spectrum. The aspiring lawyer is academically smart so even if she does not get another album after this one, she still has a very flourishing future ahead of her.

Out & About: Rihanna & Drake party together in NYC!

Looks like Drake is truly over Rihanna breaking his heart. The singer attended the rapper’s concert last night at Radio City Music (Sept 28th), and later attended his after party at Greenhouse.

They happily posed together for photos. The images of the pair snapped together are the first since Drake claimed Riri had “used” him. He later went on to admit that the fiery-haired songstress “gave me an emotion I truly miss in my life”. Their relationship is now in a better place as they’ve recently worked together on her new album ‘Loud’.

“I just did this great song” Drake recently told MTV. “I don’t know if I’m supposed to talk about it. I just did this great song with Rihanna; hopefully we can do a video for it. I’m really excited about that”. Former Pussycat Doll member Melody Thornton was also at the afterparty because it was a dual celebration for her 26th birthday.
