Billboard has published a brand new report about Ciara’s new album ‘Basic Instinct’, as well as confirmation of the October 5th release date. ‘Ride’ producer Tricky Stewart spills the beans to the popular chart magazine about why Ciara is finally seeing success with her current lead single.

That’s nice. Unlike The Dream, at least one producer has positive things to say. The track is currently No. 4 on the Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs chart and No. 42 on the Billboard Hot 100 after spending a lengthy thirteen weeks on each. Nielsen SoundScan also estimates that the track has sold 250,000 downloads to date.

People should not exaggerate the “success” of this single. The R&B charts are based mostly on airplay and considering the single has not even gone gold it’s a flop.

U guys are taking Dream’s comment the wrong way. What he was saying was that Ciara “has a standard that everyone expects her to meet with each album” and that EVERY artists, not just her, has only so many chances to flop before the become irrelevant. And like it or not, THAT’S TRUE.
But he also said that he believes in her art and that he knows that they can bring out the best in her artform through this album to really push her back to that point where she was one of those names you mention when u bring up the top female artists.
He wasn’t bashing her, he just gave his reason for why he, Tricky, and all the other producers for this album (Soundz, Bangladesh, Darkchild, Danja, etc) are pushing to give her their best work and bring her back to that level that they feel she SHOULD be at.

Monica’s “Everything To Me” peaked much lower on the Hot 100 than Ciara’s “Ride” did, and might i add, DID NOT sell GOLD either.

I’m actually a ciara fan and ima need her to PUSH her ASS to a stage, not a damn envelope or her album back any further..
I mean, I guess it’s good that we haven’t really seen a lot of leaks, but that just makes me more impatient because of the length of time between lead single and the album. “Ride did not satisfy my appetite.. I think “Run It” + “Speechless” gives me more of what I need.
Being that it took “Ride” from May to now to peak at #4 on the charts, this gives her 2nd single plenty of time to reign on the charts before October 5th…think about it…May up until now kinda flew by since Ride was released IMO…so on paper it may look bad, but really, its not like Ride has been out sssooooo long that everyone is sick and tired of it.
And Ciara is performing TONIGHT at 6pm in Dallas for the Birthday Bash of one of their major radio stations. That show sold out when it went on sale and this is a HUGE event. Bigger than the bday bash when she first performed Ride.
Still sounds like a flop album with a lackluster single from a redundant dancing model. Janet nor J.Lo she will ever be. I think even Mya has shitted on Ciara, how sad.
Whhat ppl fail to realize is that RIDE is a completely R&B track with no pop or rock maintream influences…songs like that dont really even chart that high anymore in todays industry!
And she also hasnt done any promo…And still peaked @ 42——Monica first single did the same thing and look how that turned out.
Ushers first 3 singles didnt go past #30 on BBHOT 100 and look how that turned out.
The label knew what kind of single they were releasing and knew what audience they were aiming for!

It can be #1 until doomsday, the question is will she have enough fans to buy the album? October is a long ways off. Rick Ross’s fans raved and carried on about how great his album was and he sold a measly 176k. Ciara’s fans really need to step up to the plate as far as buying. they support her tremendously on the internet but look at FR. Well she is starting her promoting in Houston today, her first show. Good luck to her.

you are so right. ciara needs to get with the right company that will market her under pop music. but even with the very little radio air play she gets on r and b stations, she still manages to be very successful. that is the mark of a true winner and great performer.

And also I was referring to Papers, Daddys Home, & Lil Freak when i brought up Usher…point being the label had to release multiple singles before any REAL BUZZ surrounded his album AND prior to OMG smashing!
now correct me if I’m wrong but Papers never had a video released, hey daddy peaked at 24 and even though lil freak didnt make top 30 it still made top 40 and he only released to this day 4 singles with videos so how is that releasing mutiple singles when the album dropped in March and we are now going into August
