JLS ‘The Club Is Alive’ leaks in full CDQ and it’s poo!
Posted by | Filed under JLS, New Music
Earlier today, UK boyband JLS released a one-minute snippet of their new lead single ‘The Club Is Alive’, but they did not bargain on the track leaking in full CDQ and three days ahead of schedule. Listen to the song in its entirety below:
Going back to what I said earlier, ‘The Club Is Alive’ heavily uses synthesizers, progressive electronic sounds, robotic effects and features a lot of dance elements. It also samples the classic Julie Andrews song ‘The Hills Are Alive’ from ‘The Sound Of Music’. The track, which is produced by Steve Mac and co-written by Andrew Frampton and Savan Kotecha, is really NOT a good song.
.
After hearing the snippet earlier this morning, I didn’t want to write it off straight away, although I knew deep down that I’d end up not liking it. Unfortunately, I’m just.not.getting.it. I’ve gone from being indifferent to just not liking the track AT ALL!
.
I can’t connect to it and the lyrics are ridiculously cheesy: “I can be the DJ, you can be the dancefloor, you can get up on me”. The production is dated as hell and the autotuning on the vocals are very overprocessed. Maybe something like this would have worked during the popular days of Backsteet Boys, N-Sync and O-Town. Even back then, their music was a million times better than this. I can still listen to ‘No Strings Attached’ and can honestly say it was a brilliant pop album. There is no brilliance about this whatsoever. A mess.

May 7th, 2010 at 8:52 pm…wow this is a hot mess….I dont understand why they had to resort to auto tune, they can somewhat sing. This is not the right evolution for this group.

May 7th, 2010 at 9:01 pmThis song IS shit. NO SHADE. JLS are actually talented, but judging from their debut album and ESPECIALLY this, they have nothing to show for it. And it’s sad.

May 7th, 2010 at 9:42 pmThem rushing out an album so soon is a big mistake. I sense no growth whatsoever. It should have been the first single of the JLS debut album re-release. No doubt it’ll go to #1 in the charts. Their fans will lap up anything and the label are just cashing in on the momentum before the teeny-boppers move onto the next big thing.

May 7th, 2010 at 10:55 pmIf this song didn’t have JLS’ name attached to it, I’d swear Microsoft Mo was singing this shit. JLS’ music is whack to me any way, so this suits them n***a’s nicely.

May 7th, 2010 at 11:59 pmTo be fair, I’m going to wait to pass a judgment on this until after I’ve seen them perform it live (sans lip synch if possible?)… it’ll be interesting to see how they incorporate the dance moves into this, because this is not a vocally challenging piece by any means… could be a different song? All in all I’m a bit disappointed, there is little Jack-the-lad here, and I was more interested in who produced it than who sang it.

May 8th, 2010 at 1:06 amWhy go to America and spend all that money to produce something like this. And.. a British act using the word ‘shorty’. For shame!
I can envisage some terrible ‘live’ performances. So dated! They came second in a singing competition so why aren’t they showcasing that.
All their fangirls will love it and it’ll probably do well here.Happy Says:

May 8th, 2010 at 1:52 pmI am shocked that Toya is telling the truth after pretending for so long that they were the best thing to come out of the UK.They should demand their money back from the very expensive production team they used who gave them this reject.

February 2nd, 2011 at 3:44 pmI first didn’t like the song, but after a while I really started liking it (:
I don’t care about the autotune and all that, at least they’re trying out if they can do different ‘styles/types’ of songs!, unlike some boybands which stick to ONLY one ‘style/type’, and after a while it just gets boring and then it’s byebye boyband. , I guess you either hate, or love this song.
