Michael all the way, i mean Janet did learn from the best which was her brother. And although i love Janet to Michael had that something extra. He just gave you what you wanted and more.
I don’t exactly think you can compare the two. Both of them are my favorite artists, but each bring their own flava. Janet has produced classic timeless music like Michael, but Michael on the other hand is more of a musical genius then Janet. I was into Michael long before I started to like Janet, so I pick MJ.

First. I prefer female performers.
Second. IMHO MJ is a “singles” and visionary artist. His albums were half filled with fillers. I cannot name a single MJ’s album which I managed to listen from the begininng till end.
Janet has real masterpieces like “janet.” and “Rhythm Nation” and “Velvet Rope” where I like every song and can listen to them without pressing “FF”.
Third. MJ – too much plastic surgery. And at the end of it all, he was not looking like a human being. JJ – she had plastic surgery for sure but she looks still affordable and even sexy.
Fourth. Dancing. MJ moves were too sharp, too expressive, sometimes looking a bit gay-like. JJ style is sometimes agressive, sometimes smooth. She is always different and does not try to put all the moves she knows in one song and in every next song. She is a club dancer, a harem girl, a teen-britney-style dancer, a stripteaser, an American 1940ies-dancer and many more.
Fifth. Videos. MJ tried to make his videos look like movies. They were too monumental and there was too much pathos in every of them. And it made them tiresome, when you can tell for sure without a fortune teller that MJ will spend a million on his next video, build a 7 storeyd palace or bring live sharks. JJ’s videos differ in their scale. She has simple ones, expensive, cheap, color, w&b, with an artificial set, out of house…
JANET!!!!!!! of course Mike is the greatest of all time, but between the two Janet is my favorite. I feel like Michael was an alien, he was TOO great, like untouchable. I feel like i can relate to Janet and her music more than Michael’s. NOT discrediting Mike for being amazing, but crediting Janet for being so relatable and a superstar at the same time.

However I own a hard copy of every album Janet’s released, including 1982’s Janet Jackson and 1984’s Dream Street, plus all her compilation and remix albums, as well as all her tour and video DVD’s. I even have her Rhythm Nation and Janet tours. Bootlegged, as they’re not actually on sale at stores, but paid for nevertheless.
The only thing I’m missing is attending a Janet concert. Hopefully she’ll do another tour soon. My time will come dammit! But yeah, Miss Jackson if you’re nasty.

This is a very hard one…Mike was the first musical entertainer that I admired and wanted to be like but when Janet hit the scene it was something different about her. Its like Janet took over where Mike left off…so Ill have to say Janet

Janet is great and I love her but her output has not been as successful as MJ’s, Everyone forgets there were TWO LP/CD’s by Janet before Control … then look at the last TWO (not including the ‘new’ Hits collection) they can’t really be considered a success Vs. her previous releases.
Do love them both and this is in NO way an attack on MJ or Janet.
Michael because he has been singing since he was 5 years old and his music touched me when i was a little kid in Africa where michael is King. His music had impact on everybody, something Janet lacks. Go listen to old Jacksons albums and listen to his beautiful voice. I cant imagine the world without michael’s music. He is universal and the most inportant artist of our generation. Jante music is great but it lacks quality and it is not as timeless as Michaels.
